This sponsor program looks like a real gem

I was browsing a few sponsor directories recently, looking for new niche sites to promote, preferrably via CCBill, since I hate signing up to a program and finding out the promo material sucks afterwards. With CCBill, it's quick and easy.

What I found is a program covering loads of niches: real public sex, gangbang, femdom, latex, huge objects, extreme ana l, humiliation, machine fucking, some really heavy and hard stuff over there, content mostly from europe and/or germany. 25 sites total if I counted correctly.

Galleries are available as flash, downloadable movies and pics, even better, you can add your own recips or links to your own sites on all galleries. Plus, they have configurable RSS feeds to easily feed blogs.

Never heard of it before, it's called NBBcash (Natural Born Bangers), looks like the hell of a program. I'll report when I get the first results, but it looks more than promising, rarely seen CCBill programs with that much variety. Certainly not oversaturated so far, so be quick ;)

Oh, did I mention 70% revenue share (CCBill charges are deducted from that, but still awesome).

The free blog host clusterfuck

Everything is fine in adult? If you have a look at the new free blog hosts that emerged in the last month, it isn't, they barely last for more than a few weeks till they disappear or redirect. The only ones staying strong are those around for ages.

The worst one in my opinion is Smut.com, yep, the one I even recommended some time ago. They kept their service online, but started deleting what they call "inactive blogs". In my case, it was 10 blogs averaging a nice $800+ total a month together, two PR4 and a few lower ones. Deleted without notice and on their forum they tell people "Pick up the subdomain and put a real blog on it". Hello, it's about ranking, not about posting, any half decent SEO around in their company? The fact that the 404 page even makes them money makes it look like they intentionally delete "inactive" high traffic blogs... Good job, that's really serious business.

Our lesson: When a new blog host enters the stage, make sure you don't feed them with valuable links until they are around for a few years. Use them to feed your own domains with links, get them indexed via free link resources like social bookmarking and if the crap is exploding, you won't have to pull hundreds of links like me.

Are you wasting your mobile traffic?

It's not a joke, but a serious question. More and more people are using their Iphone, Blackberry, Playstation Portable or similar to surf the web for porn, the problem is: The average website looks really bad in the tiny display and most videos have the wrong size. So, you are losing visitors, simply because your site doesn't display correctly.

Even worse, some sponsors won't pay you for mobile traffic, they'll redirect it to their or third party mobile sites and make money from your traffic without paying you a dime.

So, what to do? Build a mobile version for each and every site you run? That's perfect, but it requires alot of time and effort. So, here is the easy solution:

1. Signup for Juggcash

2. Click the "Mobile" Tab and scroll down to the "Generate Your Mobile Site Script" generator.

3. Enter your domain name, select the payout and site/niche you want your mobile traffic sent to.

4. As script type, select the most effective and easy to install one which is ".htaccess"

5. Select colors, optionally upload your banner.

6. Hit generate and copy the code in a text editor, save as .htaccess (the dot is important) and upload via ftp to your domains/sites root directory. In case you already have a .htaccess file, e.g. when using wordpress, just add the code.

Works with almost all hosts, including virtual accounts, as long as they are running on Apache which the vast majority does.

What is going to happen? Every time a visitors comes to your site, the server compares the browser used to the list of mobile browsers in the Juggcash code you added. If it's a mobile browser, the visitor is redirected to the Brazzers Mobile or X Mobile Pass site with your referral code. If it isn't a mobile browser, your site loads normally. This way, you are making money from the mobile traffic that would be useless for you anyway without your surfers with non-mobile browsers noticing anything. Even Google won't care. Basically, it's some extra income that doesn't interfere with your other sponsors.

In case this is too complicated for you, you can generate PHP or Javascript code to copy and paste to your html code as well, the big advantage of .htaccess is that you don't have to add any code to individual pages, it's valid for all files and even subdirectories of the directory you upload it to.

The .htaccess is useful for many other things, such as search engine friendly redirects, password protection of sites/directories and much more. A very powerful little file, so if you have no clue about it, it would be a good time to grab some tutorials!

The final curtain for ranking affiliate links

The death of ranking affilite links was decided by Google, Yahoo and Microsoft. It's called "canonical tag" and while it has some great advantages for bloggers to get rid of duplicate content, it's an affiliate's nightmare.

The canonical tag was designed to get rid of duplicate content. You can define a standard URL in the header of a page, if the page is reachable under any different URL, it isn't indexed at all, just the canonical one.

For affiliates this means search engine friendly sponsor URLs are obsolete, since the moment a sponsor defines a canonical URL, probably the URL without any affiliate ID, all affiliate URLs will disappear from Google, Yahoo and MSN for this page and never have a chance to rank.

I'm curious how sponsors will react, but since duplicate content is a huge problem for many affiliate programs, it's just a matter of time till the cononical tag will be implemented by most of them.

RIP ranking affiliate URLs, those lucky shots were fun while they lasted.

Free blog host Thumblogger was hacked

Sometimes things go wrong, this one went very wrong. Just a few days ago, the industries leading free adult blog host was hacked and all blogs, including backups, were deleted in the attack.

Fortunately, Twan, the owner of Thumblogger, was able to put some older backup from June online again, but the harddrives with the more up to date backups could be lost. A data recovery company is working on it according to the latest news on the forum, but it's still unclear if this attempt will be successful

All the best to the Thumblogger team, we all hope you'll be able to recover the data lost during the attack.

In case you have blogs there, re-register all URLs you have registered after the beginning of June, so noone else can grab them. Looks like some high traffic blogs were already "stolen". In case someone else already was faster, drop Twan a line and he'll put the blog back to your account. In case you want to restore links from the sidebar or posts yourself without waiting for a possible more recent backup, try google or yahoo cache by using the "site:" search of the respective searchengine and clicking on "cache".

This drastically shows what I always preached: Spread out and use other freehosts and your own hosting as well.

More free blog host before christmas

Christmas is coming soon, so now is a good time to give your blog networks a last boost before the holiday traffic hits in, conversions were terrible the last weeks, but christmas holidays were always great for me.

I found some fresh adult blog hosts, still testing how they'll rank, all are wordpress based:

Porn Arm (gone), the next strong arm in porn? Anyway, the site looks professional, loads fast and the latest 4 posts are featured on the mainpage. Just one thing: Don't put a "support" link on the site that links to a 404 page ;) All blogs are ad-free.

Pornodile (gone), the crocodile in porn. The mainpage navigation is a bit confusing, but once you managed to create a blog, it's fast. No ads.

Pussy Blog, now, that's a good name, decent domain! Looks professional, all recently updated blogs linked from the mainpage. The Wordpress MU installation they use differs a bit from what you are normally used to, but works perfectly fine. No ads, but small 4 textlinks in the footer. My top pick this time!

Pornblogz, it started nicely but you fucked it up. Yes, I won't link them here, simply because they thought deleting an "inactive" blog with 1k+ incoming links is a smart idea. It isn't and although the host belongs to a reputable network and it's buried in the TOS, I won't recommend a host that deletes your stuff because they think your well linked blog is worse than someone feeding it with nonsense daily. Good idea to fight spam and orphan blogs, bad idea not to send out mails and just delete without warning.

Do I need paid hosting ?

The short answer is: Yes, you do. If you have read some older posts here, you know I'm a big fan of using free blog hosts to build small authority networks, but at the end of the day, it's your own domains and sites on paid hosting that secure a long term income.

Even if a freehost is around for 5 years, they could close shop one day. Maybe they'll last 10 years, but if you are doing this fulltime, without an additional 9 to 5 job, that's nothing you want to rely on too much.

There are many good hosts around, e.g. Webair, Dreamhost, but my real favourite is Hostgator, the best deal in my opinion. Even the small virtual accounts are running extremely stable, support is fast and friendly and even better: They are damn cheap!

Very promising new adult blog host

Just registered with them and created two blogs, they use some sort of customized Wordpress MU with integrated plugins, RSS syndication and you even get a link on their mainpage every time you update your blog.

So, who is it? It's Waqn! Strange name, but at least something you can remember. Many hosts think they are clever and use keyword rich main domains containing "porn", "xxx" or "blog"...but it's not a smart move if you want to stand out of the crowd, essential to establish a host. The more people you attract, the more SEO they do, the better your host ranks, the more people are attracted because they want easy searchengine rankings, you get the idea. Well, that's a different topic.

They load fast, the ads are inobstrusive in the header, a nice selection of adult and non-adult themes. In fact, it's the first time I see adult themes that don't utterly suck. They look good and the code is SE friendly, hooray!

So, go signup for Waqn, you won't regret it. The way the site looks and the effort put into the project, including a forum, I'm pretty sure they aren't one of those adult blog hosts gone after a month or two.

Good luck, but Pornlivenews already showed that there is potential to push a new host to top rankings which can compete with heavy weights like the one and only Thumblogger.

Nastydollars goes Micro Niche

It's hard to keep good ratios with mainstream porn like anal or teens nowadays, so after a flood of different wife and cuckold sites from different sponsors, Nastydollars launches their new site CFNM Secrets in a very interesting niche: Clothed females and naked men, almost always referred to a CFNM.

It looks awesome and seems to fit the niche quite well, I'm not an expert for CFNM, but I'll give it a try for sure.

Interesting phenomenon, huge sponsors moving towards smaller niches formerly only occupied by small and amateurish sites via CCBill. In contrast to programs with gazillions of cookie cutter sites that never fit the niche correctly, there seems to be alot better research and targetting of certain key elements of a fetish now.

Big advantage if you have the right traffic, since you can finally present your visitors something really professional, bad because it shows that selling porn gets harder every year. A few years ago no big sponsors would have launched a site like this with similar investments in content, since the usual stuff still converted too well.

Free adult blog hosts dying everywhere

At the moment they seem to die faster than a snowball in hell, several free blog hosts around for many months or even years closed shop. No notifications, domains expired or redirected.

Some on the list: Pimpis, Thumbblogs, Justwank, Pornazon, Adultblogpress and Adult-Blogpress, along with a few others that barely existed for a month.

What do we learn from this? Free adult blog hosting can be great for SEO, but always keep some redundancy in your networks, never put too many eggs in one basket and check your links at least once a week, pull the foul ones. It's not like it's surprising me, since free hosting only works if you have a solid concept of monetization and some decent knowledge how to successfully run a free service, but it sometimes sucks anyway.

The biggest players, Thumblogger and Xlogz are still fine and will probably be around forever, offering great support and easy search engine listings.

On the bright side, there are a few new wordpress based hosts to check out, just added them to the sidebar: 3Blogger (gone), Flesh Blogger, Porn Live News (not new but fucking great) and Smut (coolest domain for free blogs ever).

The real amateur hype and legal problems

Like in fashion, some trends considered dead suddenly return. With all the tube sites and real amateur videos around, homemade content has it's big revival.

Just grab your girlfriend, a cheap digital camera, camcorder or even a cellphone, skip expensive lighting and click, click, click, done. Sells like crazy. The bad thing about it: There isn't too much content offered in that niche from content producers. So, many paysites in this niche simply go for user uploaded content or even grab stuff they find on the net (hoping noone will ever recognize). You know, the "public domain" myth.

Does it affect you, the affiliate? Yes! There are no model IDs or model releases when content isn't properly bought or self produced, which means you can't be sure the girls are really 18+ and aware of their pics/videos being published on the internet. Now, I don't need to explain this any further: Very bad, dangerous for your business. The guys running the paysite from russia may not have to face legal consequences, but you as an US affiliate will! User uploaded content is a borderline thing, if the submitters upload all docs needed, it's fine, but many guys probably won't want to provide 2 photo ID copies and a real model release.

So, how to pick a trustworthy sponsor for this niche? First, don't feel save because there is a 2257 link. Putting up a page like this takes 2 minutes and it's no guarantee that the needed docs are really archived by the sponsor. It boils down to: If it's a company running other well known legal sites, preferrably incorporated in the US or EU, you are almost 100% safe. I wouldn't want to claim that all sponsors not fulfilling these requirements are shady, but I prefer to play safe.

So, after all this legal ranting, here are some recommendations:

Mini networks and SERP domination

Wow, what a title, sounds like some mighty secret technique. In reality, it's really easy, just requires some actual work, something most webmaster try to avoid since boards are more fun.

The idea behind it is: Why try to get one site ranked for a certain term if you can have multiple sites ranked? Occupying several slots on the first and second SERP page greatly increases the chances of someone signing up for your sponsors. The best about it: It's not more difficult than getting one site ranked, it's easier.

Let's do it step by step:

1. Pick your keywords wisely, they will be the same for all sites in the mini network you'll be creating. I'm using Keyword Elite to find good keywords, since you want to find terms that are searched for pretty often, but aren't too competitive. Most free tools, like this or this will show you how often a phrase is searched, but not how strong your competition really is.

Make sure to pick something in your league, you won't get a #1 listing for "free porn" this way, but very likely for some sologirl name for example.

2. Create variations of your keywords. I'll take this blog as an example, keyphrase "adult webmaster blog".

Possible variations could be "adult webmaster", "blog for adult webmasters", "adult webmaster news", "adult affiliate blog", "adult webmasters blog", "blogging adult webmaster", "webmaster blog", you get the picture.

The goal is to use different terms that contain at least one of your keywords, because always using the same term would trigger some alerts with the search enigines.

3. Create sites. First, we need free adult blog hosts (see sidebar or google this term). Now you create a few subdomains (read the host's terms, some don't allow multiple similar sites) with each of them, the subdomain names will be the terms you picked in step 2. You are not limited to blogs, any site is fine, but keep in mind you'll need to fill them with content later, so blogs are easiest time vs reward wise.

You can and should use the same subdomain name on different hosts, in case the bloghost already has one of your keywords in their domain name, it doesn't need to be in the subdomain name. Confused? This blog is #2 on google for "adult webmaster blog", although the subdomain is just "adultwebmaster"...and I didn't even use this technique for this blog.

Use dashes if you want (e.g. adultwebmaster-blog, adult-webmaster-blog), but they are not necessary.

Always edit the descriptions and titles and add you keywords to them as well. After about one hour, you'll end up with 10-15 freehosted blogs on your topic.

4. Link and network. Now you interlink all the sites. Avoid direct reciprocals (site 1 should link to site 5 is site 5 already links to site 1), sometimes just link 1 site, sometimes link multiple. Think of pipes with water in it. If water flows in any pipe, it needs to flood the whole network, but it doesn't matter how many pipes the water must cross to reach a specific site. Don't just build a chain, make the linking as random and natural as possible. As anchor text for the links, you use the keyword variations from step 2, again, variety without losing the focus rules.

5. Add own domains. This is optional and will greatly improve results. If it's a term important for you which looks profitable, register a few domains on the topic, always containing your keywords in the URL. If you use you own domains, use different IPs for them, since it will give more weight to the links.

6. Fill with content. Now the ugly part, grab free hosted galleries, banners, embeds, write descriptions and posts (unique ones are nice, but something copied from galleries/premade descriptions or just one sentence each post is fine, too). Well, you have probably done this before.

Keep in mind that you need to fill all sites with content, so putting 20 posts on site one and then one post for all others won't be clever. You don't know exactly which site will rank best if you haven't used this technique before, so spread the content equally. If your 20 post blog ranks shitty and one with 1 post does well, many visitors won't signup because the site lacks enough previews to make them want to join.

7. Almost done, additional linking to external sites. You got your freehosted blogs, you got your own domains (again, optional), you have them filled with content and interlinked. The network itself finished, but only having sites on exactly the same topic interlinked looks suspicious, so add a few other links to sites of you own to the network sites, submit to adult blog directories, etc. A few doesn't mean shitloads, you don't want to push all the link juice outside the network. I do well with about 10 external links per site total, in theory you could add alot more, but if you don't know exactly what you are doing, you'd risk to accidently let too much link power leak out of the network. Simple pipes example again: If one pipe has too many pipes connected to it that lead out of the network, the pressure in the other pipes of the network becomes very low, some pipes may even stay almost dry. The search engine algos are alot more sophisticated, but that's the basic sheme behind them.

8. Add links to your network, from external sites. Most important, all we did so far is linking from the mini network, not to it (except the adult blog directories). So, add links to several sites in the network from established sites you have (or social bookmarking accounts, whatever). Do not always link to the same site in your mini network, let the water flow in different pipes.

Done! But why does a network like this rank better than what you are normally doing? Google and other search engines like to see sites on the same topic (using the same keywords) linking to each other. It's a hint that a site is an authority for a topic and deserves a good ranking when it links to and is linked from pages with similar keywords. You create some "pseudo authority" with your network that pushes all your mini network sites up in the SERPs.

Do not overdo it, the bigger the single network becomes, the larger the footprints, but it's a great technique to dominate the SERPs. Even if you have your own domain ranking high for a term, it never hurts to fill up half of the first page in google.

New Bangbros site and promo tools

Bangbros Affiliate Program crew launched a new all access portal today, called Bang Pass.

But wait, wasn't there Bangbros Network offering a membership to all their sites as well ? Yep, but in the official announcement on GFY it says:"Bangpass displays all our content just like bangbrosnetwork but in a different format with different features, so affiliates can take advantage of both sites. We have been testing it and have seen some great results so it's time to release the site to affiliates!"

I'll test switching my links to the new portal, with it's various rankings and more focus on certain scenes/girls instead of displaying a list of sites only. Just looks like more content, the design is a little better in my opinion as well. It's new, it's fresh, this alone should help alot with conversions.

Next to the new site, they have a bunch of promo tools some webmasters still don't seem to have found, e.g. rss feeds (it's data feeds from the database, directly importing to blogs doesn't seem to work properly since these feeds contain some "illegal" characters, so you need to rewrite them a little to work with wordpress etc.), hosted flash videos and iframe promos.

New program from Naughty America

There were some discussions about oversaturation of JuggCash, since they seem to be on every TGP, tube or blog...but I don't see this affecting conversions in any way and retentions are still among the best I have ever seen in the industry. So, make sure to advertise them via the revshare option, since you'll be losing money if you go for PPS.

Want some numbers ? Ok, here go with my personal numbers for this month, february, till today:
173248 raws, translating to 106826 uniques and 122 new signups. Do the maths, a first page unique to join ratio of 1:875. All traffic sources and sites in their program included, targetted search engine traffic as well as 404 crap.

Now, go show me a program that does give you a similar overall performance constantly under 1:1000 nowadays...you won't find many, except in micro niches.

Temporary disposable email adresses

Social bookmarking and link generation can be a real pain, I described some time ago how to automate the process as much as possible, but it still leaves you with one problem: You need email adresses and one catch all account won't do the job very well, since it's a giant footprint.

You could create a dozen email adresses at popular services like hotmail and yahoo, but it takes loads of time, wasted time, since there is a much better and quicker solution.

Instant, disposable email adresses. It's basically throw away email adresses that are generated automatically and can be checked via a web interface. After a certain period of time, the mails are deleted automatically. You find a nice list of totally free services offering them here at Sizlopedia.

Many of these services close shop after a few weeks, pretty much like webbased proxy services, but some are already around for a long time. Skip those that require any registration, use the ones you can enter any email prefix for, like Mailinator (they even have several domains to use for more variety and less footprints).

Caution: Some social bookmarking sites have banned a few of these services, it's trial and error, but 90% of the time it works fine. Make sure you don't use any obvious alias, so test@mailinator.com may result in others accessing your registration mail (that sometimes contains your account password), imth4l33ton4@mailinator.com or similar is alot better, noone will guess it or accidently use the same adress.

Don't use them when sensitive personal information is involved, but if you need a quick adress and don't want to get your own mailboxes bombed with newsletters and other stuff, they are the perfect solution.

How to convert crap traffic

There are two kinds of traffic generally considered being very low quality, the first an by far worst you can get is skimmed TGP, tube and torrent traffic. It's the notorious freeloaders who know how the game works, they can tell from an onemouseover of a link which sponsor program a site belongs to. You can't fool them, they probably never pulled out their credit card and they want as much content as possible for free. Just imagine, worst case, someone with your knowledge about the sites in the industry and the places where all the ripped members areas are offered.

Trying to lure them into a paysite will not result in a signup, they'll run to the next surfer forum or torrent, enter the sitename and see what they can download for free.

So, the only thing you can offer them is something they won't get for free. Have a look at the torrents and tubes and you know what works for these surfers: Dating and Livecams. They are heavy porn consumers, often lonely and lacking contact to real women.

I use the following programs for this kind of traffic, don't expect amazing conversion ratios, but it's at least a last chance: Adult Webmaster Empire (Cams), Streamray (Cams and Dating), Nastydollars (Fling Dating) and Camsense (Cams).

Very important: Cloak your affiliate links. A simple directory on one of you domains, an index.php with a php header redirect (exclude this from crawling in your .htaccess/robots.txt and link with nofollow, search engines don't like redirects) will do. Don't try an onmouseover, they'll rightlick anyway. There are also tools around for this, free and paid, in case you need loads of links cloaked and want an admin panel for easier link management.

Even if a freeloader decides to signup, they know you get comission, they aren't naive. They hate webmasters, because they think they deserve everything free, they are the good boys, we are the bad ones in their world. So, make sure to get your cookie on their harddrive, just in case they enter the URL without affiliate code again to scam you out of your comission.

The second type of bad traffic is anything totally untargetted, like 404. You can either push this on your own sites to filter it down, but cams and dating work quite well with it, too. In addition, you could send it to sites offering a huge variety of content, e.g. DVD download portals like VideosZ. It's not the magic perfect solution, but the premade 404 templates or landing pages some sponsor offer are way too niche specific.

Last but not least, there is a premium way to maximize your profits on crappy traffic, but you need loads of it: Sell it. It's what many TGPs do. It's all about smart marketing. You can't blame the brokers, you can't blame the sellers. As long as many webmaster care more for their counters than their income, it works.

New Bangbros and NastyDollars sites

While the final release of Milf Soup seems to take a bit longer than I expected (linking codes already work, hits counted), there is another new site that appeared in the stats interface yesterday, called Working Latinas.

Looks finished, already shows up as a site when visitors hit the Bangbros Network main tour. It's all about latinas working in service jobs getting hot and naughty, very unusual but promising approach in the latina niche, real reality style. So, get ready to promote this one via the Bangbros Webmaster Program soon !

The other guys from Miami, Nasty Dollars, just pushed out Monster Curves, a new site about volupturous ladies. No BBWs, but full figured hotties with big boobs and asses. Boobs sell, asses sell, boobs and asses are pretty much a no brainer.

Both programs are around for ages, became a bit stale, but with the new tour designs, first on Bangbros, now for the Nastydollars sites and much hotter new girls, it's time to push traffic again. Industry outlook for 2008

Yay, a new year, back from my holidays and time for an outlook of what will change and what will be hot for 2008.

1. Sponsors
A really ugly phenomenon across the board in 2007 was tube sites and torrents all over the place. Whole paysites ripped and available for free, and since I don't expect that these guys will be shut down soon, it's time to change your focus a bit.

I'm pushing more traffic to dating and webcams, since this stuff isn't available for free, as well as niches that aren't saturated, with hard to find content. "Mainstream adult" still works well, it's not like the sky is falling, but you constanly have to send more and more traffic to make the same money. It started years ago, and it keeps continuing.

TCG, Traffic Cash Gold, launched a new webcam portal and AWE, Adult Webmaster Empire is doing better and better for me, so you may want to check those two out.

Many programs reacted already, they either keep rolling out new sites much faster to keep content fresh and fight the saturation or add dating and cams to their portfolio as well.

2. Blogs
The TGP guys still claim blogs aren't moneymakers, but while they go for the feeloader trophy terms like "free porn", you see more and more blogs pop up high in the serps for profitable long tail keywords, solo girl names, etc.

Especially free adult blogs hosts will even grow stronger, you won't find many terms that aren't extremely competitive ThumbLogger and Xlogz showing up on the first results page of google. Blogs aren't a secret weapon, but since they are fast and easy to build and easy to optimize for the searchengines, they'll stay my top choice type of site for 2008.

Speaking of adult blog hosts, a new player entered the scene and is already shooting up high in the rankings for some terms. It's Porn Live News, a very professional looking service. Their interface rocks, although it's custom, so it takes a bit to get used to it. They support RSS feed syndication, have unique templates and you can create as many blogs as you want under one account. Even better, you login and can post to all of your blogs ! Just choose the blogs, categories, post right away...no need to switch to a blog, login to a blog, all done via one interface.

3. Solo Girls
Nothing new, but 2007 already was a year with alot more solo girl site launches than ever before and the trend will continue. Solo girl site members are fans, they are more loyal, there isn't an easy replacement. If you like anal, there are plenty of anal sites, if it's a special girl, there is just one. Keep a close eye on the next big seller from Teen Revenue, Selina 18, looks like she could repeat the success of Little Lupe.

4. Cascading billing
Dammit, I hate it, but it happens more often these days. You signup for a CCBill sponsor, only to find them switch to NATS a few months later. I'm not really convinced it brings in alot more signups, but even smaller programs seem to follow this trend. Well, even more checks, more stats to check, looks like we have to get used to it.

5. Traffic
2008 will be the year of the tubes again, while content theft via forums and rapidshare is battled with some success, tubes are growing and seem to be unstoppable. I don't think legal tubes will be able to fight the illegal ones, since people don't just like them for the way content is displayed, but the fact that they get easy access to almost full length videos. The shit keeps hitting the fan at full speed.

After the google PR massacre

Loads of controvery on the boards since the google pagerank update, especially all the gurus try to enlighten us how unimportant pagerank is and how it doesn't affect rankings in any way.

Well, true so far, but since PR was the only indicator that let's you find useful hardlink trades without spending hours to analyze rankings, traffic and backlinks of possible trade partners, it doesn't make link building easier.

No harm done so far, but I'm pretty surprised how some people claim that a huge drop in pagerank won't ever affect rankings. If pagerank is a value given to a site by google, a drop in value doesn't mean you can keep on doing things like you have done them over the last decade and consider your rankings safe forever. Well, maybe you can, but do you want to rely on the what was true for years will be true forever formula ?

You think my paranoia is haunting me ? Fine, but I prefer being prepared for changes, so here are a few useful hints in case you want to consider some new strategies:

1. Try to keep your outgoing links relevant and on topic. It's has been important in the past and seems to be even more important now. Since many mainstream general link directories lost loads of pagerank, seeing some drop by 5, linking to everything and you mother isn't clever. Porn itself isn't what I'd call a single topic.

2. Try new ways of linking. Not just sidebar links, footer links, it's very easy for spiders to detect traded or sold/bought links and devalue them. Context relevancy is the key, try linking from a block of text instead, natural links from inside your content instead of separating content and links. Don't put all links in one block. It's really easy for a spider to spot a block of 50 links in a row in your sourcecode and I'd bet this doesn't increase the value given to them by the searchengine.

3. More variety in link text. Think like a surfer: Would everybody who finds a site interesting link to it with the same anchor text ? No ! Don't get me wrong, links with the keywords you want to rank for in anchor text are essential, but some variety helps: Domain name, domainname.com, keyword1 keyword2, Get your free keyword1 here, keyword2 site, be creative. Again, don't lose focus, but spice it up.

4. Don't rely on one type of site for links. I don't mean one site, but don't link from directories only, from galleries only, from social bookmarking sites only.

Well, most of the above is already common SEO knowledge, but often people still try the quick and dirty approach. It's incredibly easy for a spider to find certain always repeating typical structures on a site, footer links are the prime example. Almost every site has them, buthow many really useful sites have 100 of them ? Right, none !

Buy ? There are quite a few nice SEO tools around for free, but the really powerful ones allowing you to rank for very competitive keywords in a short time cost some money...but it's definitely worth the investment.

So, here are some of my personal favourites. I tested and use all of them, they all work as promised.

Blogger Generator from Joseph Tierney is one of the most powerful backlink generation tools around. Instead of manually trading links, this tool feeds you sites with hundreds or even thousands of fresh links in a matter of a day.

It's very flexible, loads of customization options. It's not magic, but effective: The desktop tool generates dozens or hundreds of blogs on blogger.com, you give it the keywords, the sites to link to, customize and/or randomize the look of the blogs and it automatically creates your blogs, adds your links, interlinks them and pings the blogs so the crawler find them.

So, basically it creates an army of link feeder sites from an authority domain to increase the ranking of your sites in the SERPs. All these blogs are PR0, but ranking isn't about PR, I've seen totally new sites rank in the top 10 for search terms with 2.000.000+ results in a matter of a few days. Test it, it works !

Second one, working with a similar concept, is Bookmarking Demon. We all know loads of authority links help rankings alot and social bookmarking sites are very popular and loved by google. Adding your sites to dozens of services takes alot of time and they'll probably get buried soon since noone else will (probably) bookmark them as well.

That's where Bookmarking Demon comes into game. The program creates multiple accounts with social bookmarking sites and submits your sites to them. It saves you alot of time creating multiple accounts, adding URLs and tags, etc. and the results are really nice.

It's not about the traffic you'll get from these sites, you will, but it isn't really converting well, it's just a little extra on top. What you'll get is a bunch of backlinks, often even with Pagerank from the tag pages, even the mainpage if you are lucky.

That's two to start with, less than 100$ each and well worth the money, you'll make it back fast. Don't try being a smartass, these programs are around on torrents and rapidshare, but it's outdated versions that won't work any more (updates are free and you'll need them to keep the program working), plus this software verifies your account with a server. Well, not the topic, but we hate it if our content is stolen and published elsewhere, software isn't that much different.

Blackhat ? Well, depends on how you do it. I wouldn't recommend spamming the shit out of the search engines, but when used with common sense, these tools can save you alot of link building work. Don't use unrelated tags for social bookmarking, try to make your blogger blogs look unique and provide some quality content and you won't have problems with deleted accounts or penalties for your websites.

The 5 best converting Milf sponsors

Third place goes to TripleXCash and their site Mommy Loves Cock. It's a bit different from most other Milf sites, their moms are a little older, often no pornstars, but still very beautiful. Seeing great results since some guys prefer the next door mom reality style to pornstars only, so it targets a part of the mature niche others don't cover.

Four is Perfect Gonzo with Milfthing. It's fine to advertise what you personally like, but don't forget covering more unusual tastes as well !

Review websites are known for awesome conversions, but building one, writing all reviews and keeping it up to date is a full time job...well, it was so far.

The site will constantly get updated for you, you just have to add new affiliate program webmaster IDs from time to time.

Impotant: All review sites will have a "noindex,nofollow" on every page, since the reviews for individual sites are the same on every review site you or others create, so there would be a huge ammount of duplicate content. This is a little drawback, it won't be indexed by the search engines, but it's great for all general, unfiltered adult traffic, maybe even use it to send your 404 traffic to.

New adult blog hosts on the block volume 2

It's been in may when I last posted about new free adult blog hosts, so definately time for another update on this topic.

First one is Just Wank (shitlisted, see here why). Wordpress MU based, unlimited blogs on subdomains and two nice plugins pre-installed: The All In One SEO pack which get's rid of duplicate content caused by categories and archives, changes titles, etc., really nice tool, and WP-Autoblog, basically something like Feedwordpress, but working perfectly with wordpress.

Sound good ? It is, but has one big disadvantage: The ads. I know, free hosting requires ads, nothing bad in monetizing, but those ads are very misleading. They are randomly displayed just below the header, some are ok, but some look like category navigation dropdown menues and similar stuff. Using them anyway, but these banners are a little too blind for my taste.

Second one is Wild Sitez. I was first a little irritated, they are following a different concept, one that made sites like Hubpages (who don't accept adult any more) or Squidoo very popular. Instead of creating blogs, you create single pages on a topic, add tags and these tags get linked from the mainpage via a tagcloud. It's more community style and certainly worth a try, didn't see any comparable service for adult so far and it definitely has potential !

Last but not least, there is Sexus Blog, from the guy who already brought us the leading adult blog host, Thumblogger ! Wordpress MU based, "No shouting advertisement, only a little Blogger-like topbar." (yep, really true, and apparently not even included so far) and three plugins: All In One SEO pack, WP-Autoblog and Lazylog.

Fast server, everything works fine, huge choice of templates, I couldn't find any negatives about it. Thumbs up !

So, signup for them, you can never have enough blogs and spreading them over various IPs and (sub)domains is something google will like alot. Be smart when using WP-Autoblog and don't just use sponsor feeds, write your own posts, too...because even a great plugin like All In One SEO won't help you much if all your content is exactly the same as on hundreds or thousands of other cookie cutter blogs.

They offer wordpress, although there are some restrictions, you can't edit any of the themes and you need a unique email adress for every account. Would be great to create multiple blogs with just one login, but neverless they are worth checking out.

Fast server, useful pre-installed plugins like WP-ShortStat, WP-Ads, Ultimate Tag Warrior and FeedWordPress and a choice of 30+ themes with widget support.

The truth about conversions and creative hit counting

Good conversions sell, to get webmaster signups, there is nothing better than posting “Hey, I convert 1:165 for program X” on a webmaster board. But how thrustworthy are statements like this ?

Depending on the affiliate program, hits are counted in many different ways. First, there are raw hits to the first page of the tour. This is certainly the most accurate way to count hits, but the conversion will look pretty shitty. So, what does the sponsor do ? Right, counting uniques only, which are often 50% of the raw hits only. The definition of what a unique hit is, is almost never revealed, normally I’d say a unique IP in 24h, but you won’t find out.

Competition is fierce, so some sponsor started counting unique second page hits, so a visitor sent to the sponsor is only counted when he clicks some link on the first tour page. A great way to cut hit count to 20% of the first page raws or even less.

Next thing: The signup. Most sponsor use cookies, valid from 12h to a year depending on the affiliate program, so if the visitors comes back and signs up, you may even be credited if he didn’t click your link at this time. If your cookie already expired….bad luck.

As a result, 1:200 isn’t necessarily better than 1:1000, don’t let others fool you with their stats, signup yourself and test the results. All those numbers don’t mean alot, the ways hits are counted differ too much, it boils down to what $$$ is in our pocket at the end of the day !

Great for them, they started early enough to build sites with thousands and thousands of incoming links. Is it smart to optimize for this term yourself ? The answer is: NO

It’s not impossible to get in the top 10, the first page, for popular terms but it requires alot of time, work, patience and last but not least money. Maybe worth it, but what happens if one of those sites that focusses on a few high traffic search terms is banned from google or drops to page 3 due to an algo change ?

So, if you want to make money with search engine traffic, it’s often smarter to leave the popular terms to those big guys. Would you try to compete with a 600 pound gorilla in a bare hands fight ? No ? Fine, same goes for search engines !

Try to find niches that aren’t crowded, with only few sponsors around or, if you select a popular niche, try to optimize on more specific search terms. Spread out, don’t focus on just one term, 50 second page listings get much steadier traffic than one first page listing that may disappear the next month. It always shocks me how many webmasters put all their eggs in one basket and then cry on the webmaster boards when a site is gone from the engines or dropped from rank 3 to 300.

Same goes for sponsors, I mentioned it several times. Don’t signup for just one, use many.

Optimizing your adult blog for search engines

There are hundreds of SEO blogs around, dozens of forums with new rumors and speculations, so we decided to do a little “Seo for newbies” list. It’s not state of the art, but it helps for the start, to avoid the most common errors that could easily get you banned from google & co.

1. Don’t use doorway pages

Yes, believe it or not, google is pretty clever when it comes to detecting pages with sneaky redirects, no matter if javascipt, flash, onerror or similar things. Same goes for the average cloaking with CSS. Don’t try it, it’s not worth to have your site banned.

2. Be careful with duplicate content

Syndication of sponsor feeds in blogs is the latest hype, but be careful with it, never excessively use single feeds, invest some work to write your own posts. It pays off long term and avoids penalties from duplicate content found of hundreds of other sites.

3. Be careful with meta tags

Metatags are still helpfor for some search engines, but for google, they don’t matter. So, if you know how to use them, go ahead, but having all the same metatags on every single page of your site will only cause troubles.

4. Be creative with titles

Remember 2. ? Same goes for titles, search engines hate having the same title all over your site. On a blog, something like “Hot girl in bikini sitting in the tub - Blog Title” for posts is fine, “My ultra long keyword stuffed hard to read blog title - Hot girl in bikini sitting in the tub” is not !

5. Text, text, text

In contrast to mainstream blogs, adult blogs often consist of galleries only. That’s what TGPs are for, a blog is a great tool for generating search engine traffic, but it needs text, the more the better, unique self written text. Babelogs are different, but that’s a different lesson.

6. Search engine friendly URLs

Avoid URLs with = ? &, they may get listed in the search engines, but with wordpress for example you can change the look of your permalinks without having to write a customized mod rewrite yourself. From our experience “/%post_id%-%postname%.html” works very well.

7. Last but not least, links

It’s the most important factor for a good search engine ranking, the rest is just tweaking. Get links, but don’t do direct reciprocal link exchanges, exchange triangle A->B->C and have a look at our post about hardlink exchanges. Use your main keywords as link anchor text, but not always the same and be sure to build a quality site that gets external links without having to link back. Link exchanges are nice, links you get for “free” are even better. If you link to other sites, make sure they fit the niche of your site and do a quick check on google if they are banned. Linking to sites that have been banned for not following the guidelines hurt your own ranking or even get you banned yourself, avoid this bad neighbourhood.

As much as SEO can help your site to obtain better ranking and faster indexing, as much can it hurt if done wrong. Google has quite a list of possible penalties, they range from well known ones like the good old sandbox to pretty new ones like the too many incoming links at once.

Very informative post, even for peope who are new to SEO, showing you the most popular filters, penalties and ways to get around them or even exploit them for better listings.

Google never officially explained any of those penalties or how and when they are applied exactly, but I experienced many of these obervations as well and you can be sure it’s not just paranoia.

Best converting adult website ever

Creating your own online aggregator

Aggregator ? It’s pretty much a newreader, that’s the term often used for the offline version. An online aggregator reads RSS feeds from any source, blog, blog search engine and outputs the content on a site.

Let’s say you made a site for a famous bikini model, let’s take Karla Spice as an example and you want to present your visitors some quality related links that update daily on your Karla Spice content page, to enhance your visitors experience and make them bookmark your site because you got some dynamic content instead of a static page that never changes.

First thing is looking for resources for these Karla Spice links, like Google Blogsearch , Blog Pulse, Technorati, Ice Rocket or any of your favourite blogs.

Second, you need a script that reads the feeds from these sites and grabs the links for your page. It’s pretty easy to code it in PHP, here are two guides that show you how and give you some examples: Last RSS and Simple Pie

A few things to keep in mind:

1. You want a unique site, so you need your own content, just grabbing links and building another scraper site will only get you banned from the search engines, so be careful and don’t try the foolish quick spam approach.

2. Make sure to cache the data you parse from the feeds, you server and the sites you grab the feeds from will be thanksful.

3. Don’t get feeds from sites that don’t allow you to do so, stealing copyrighted content is a big no !

4. Avoid grabbing text. A link is always appreciated by other webmasters, using their self written post text on your site is not.

There are many uses, for example you can build your own blog directory presenting the newest posts from all your blogs with it, be creative !

Banned from google

So, worst case, your site appears to be banned from google. First of all, don’t panic, check if your site was really banned. If your site is new and didn’t have pagerank so far and site:youradultsitedomainname.com shows no results, chances are high that you don’t have enough incoming links or google uses some old data. Give it a few weeks and add new links.

In case your site was around for some months or years, you were listed in google and had PR and it suddenly dropped to zero do the site:youradultsitedomainname.com as well. If no results show up, it’s a bad sign. In most cases, this means you were kicked.

What to do now ? Reinclusion request ? You could try, but getting the average adult site reincluded is pretty close to impossible. Why ? Most sites consist of content provided by sponsors, and as long as you don’t have a link directory you built over a few years, or a blog with loads of self written posts, you are considered a “thin affiliate”. That’s bad, affiliate means you profit directly from traffic, thin means you have no unqiue content and no value for visitors…so forget the reinclusion request.

Want a second chance ? Get a new domain, make sure it’s not already burned, check Archive.org and google, old domains that were previously registered have certain advantages, but only if there wasn’t anything bad on them, so safe way is to get a domain that was never registered before.

Now, find out why your domain was banned, read the webmaster guidelines, or you’ll end up the same way again.

Get a backup of the banned site, including all files and directories, but again, remove everything that could have caused the ban: Doorways, duplicate content, links to bad neighbourhood, cloaking, excessive use of keywords, etc.

Upload the cleaned site to the new domain

Now add the following to the .htaccess of your banned domain:

Redirect 301 / http://www.yournewadultsitedomain.com/

Redirect permanent / http://www.yournewadultsitedomain.com/

Every time your old site is requested from the server, this redirect sends visitors to the new one, including search engine spiders.

Almost done, mail your link partners and ask them to change their links to your new domain.

It takes time for your site and rankings to recover, it’s not guaranteed that it will work perfectly, but besides the reinclusion request, which rarely works in adult, it’s the only way to recover your work.

Sponsors offering quality RSS feeds

Blogs here, blogs there, blogs everywhere. Often webmasters can’t spend all day writing blog posts and while most of the content on a blog should be unique and self written to avoid duplicate content penalties, there is a steadily increasing demand for RSS feeds.

Thanks to Feedwordpress and other tools, importing external feeds offered by affiliate programs only takes two clicks.

The adult webmaster forums are full of posts like “Spam me with sponsor RSS feeds” and so it’s no surprise that most programs start offering feeds for blog syndication. Since recruiting new affiliates is essential and many sponsors are competing for traffic, jumping on this train seems to be a good way to get new webmaster signups.

All fine ? No ! Most feeds are simply useless. It doesn’t mean the sponsor is bad, it doesn’t mean their content is bad, it doesn’t mean their conversions are bad, it just means that they did a quickshot and the guy creating the feed doesn’t know anything about blogs.

Nothing is more frustrating than signing up for a program because you want a new feed for your blogs, only to find out that their sites and galleries rock, but the feed only contains a title and a thumbnail linked to a gallery. 5% of the work is done, you got a title and a premade thumb, 95% left, you still need to edit every single post and write the text.

So, forget about importing RSS feeds ? No, there are some sponsors that have fantastic feeds, multiple pictures, long keyword rich text, all the good stuff. My favourites are:

Premade and ready to import RSS feeds can be a great addition to a blog, but surfers are not dumb and will easily realise if you offer something unique, too, or if you have just a cookie cutter site. Long term, bookmarkers are a key to success, so make your blog worth visiting again. Build your website for your visitors and search engine traffic will kick in automatically !
